A step by step growing experience. The right fit from infancy to pre-k
The Wooden Shoe Nursery School
A child learns more in the first four years of their lives than at any other time in their lives. Accordingly, choosing a nursery school that can help your child develop as healthy as possible is a priority for all parents. With over 40 years of experience, The Wooden Shoe has given children a step-by-step growing experience since 1979. From infancy to Pre-K, our program offers children in our community a robust and enriching environment to play, learn, and grow during their formative years. Our carefully crafted programming creates a strong foundation for kids, allowing them to continue developing long after graduating from our school.

A Flexible Approach to a Structured Environment
Flexible for Parents
Parents need childcare that meets their schedules and allows for the flexibility of care that families need not just to survive but to thrive. Working parents have a lot on their minds, and their schedules can make it hard to coordinate care for their children, but we provide customized care to students and are open to any special arrangement that families need to feel secure and give their child the chance to thrive in our program.
Minibus Transportation System
Our minibus system helps children get to school. Our transportation system undergoes the requirements of the New York State Department of Transportation, and our drivers our New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Certified. We are in constant connection with our drivers if need be, and all children are required to use the appropriate car seat under federal law.
Daily Routine
While the Wooden Shoe has a flexible approach to meet the needs of all kids, we also know that having structure is essential for kids, so we ensure a daily routine that helps kids learn skills and feel secure in their environment.

Connection is Key
Play as a Form of Connection
The Wooden Shoe offers age-appropriate playground facilities that allow children to play, interact, and form meaningful connections with the big, beautiful world. We create a safe space for them to explore.
Parent Participation
Parent involvement is at the heart of our operation. We ensure that we have open lines of communication with the parents, and we listen to parents’ inputs regarding the needs of their children. Our programs don’t treat kids all the same because we know that each kid and family have different values, cultures, and needs.
Community Activities
Our nursery school is a part of the broader community. Mentoring programs with high school students and internship training help us connect with the community, and we ensure that these programs are conducted with great care and concern for students’ well-being.
